2026
goals

2026 shall be the year that we re-embrace our thirst for adventure. Throughout 2025, we based our lives around work, work, work. We have great jobs, great careers, and a solid lifestyle based around our work. Yet no matter how good work can be, it pains me to realize we're sacrificing the best age of our lives - our 30s - to be at work. We've saved plenty, and now it's the year we get back to the beach, to the mountains, to the yearning of our souls to get back into the world.

Personal

-Main goal: grow finances. I'm deep in the FIRE (Financially Independent Retired Early) movement. I'm inching closer towards being able to live off interest gains. A year of work now is two years less work in the future. Let's get the investing over with, for complete freedom in the future.

Secondary goals: Try new things. Push myself harder. Sacrifice sleep if necessary, don't quit, avoid comfort, and embrace discomfort. Life is to short to look back and say 'I could've, but I didn't.'

Adventure Goals

-Main goal: Up the ante on the adventures. Bigger, scarier, more remote, longer, riskier, more rewarding. I'm specifically looking at canyoning in Jasper, a bigger Grand Canyon trip than last year, doing the hardest canyoneering route in Utah, summitting the highest peak in Mongolia, three packraft-accessible-only canyons in British Columbia, Mount Hood, and and multiday trek up Mt Olympus in Washington. Then hopefully jetting off to Africa or the South Pacific to escape the North America winter. Let's make this one unforgettable.

Relationship Goals

-Live and enjoy life together. Grow together. Embrace difficulties together. 

-Stay close with family. Aim for a trip, though realize it may not be feasible. Weekly calls home at minimum!

-Meet up with the usual characters. Reach out to new ones. Be direct, forthcoming, respectful.

Health Goals

-Main goal: continue with excellent health. Add slightly more weight in the gym. Work on endurance; running 5K should be no big deal! Jump rope daily, and work on new moves! Stay ultra-active outside, climbing peaks and paddling rivers. Prioritize sleep - sleep is the foundation for great health.

Diet: Stay with the excellent diet. Hydrate often. Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. High fiber. Lower in fats. Grass-fed beef. Near-daily smoothies. Low-sugar on active days, no-sugar on rest days.

Appreciate having such perfect health. I'm 36 and have no health issues. Let's keep it that way!

Career Goals​

-Main Goal: Continue to thrive in the ER. The job is great, pay is great, coworkers are great. While there are other pursuits in life than work, I'm blessed to have such an excellent job. I'll be staying here and enjoying my position as long as feasible.

Travel Goals

Travel is the long-term goal. By the end of 2026 I plan to be abroad. In the meantime, I am hoping for a few smaller trips to Monterrey, maybe the Caribbean, hopefully Mongolia in the summer, and a bunch of adventures around northwest North America all summer. 2025 had no travel whatsoever- if was a year of stocking cash to prepare for the next trip. 2026 will ideally be the year that dreams come true.
