canyons of the canary islands
Warm, sunny, exotic canyons.
The Canaries are largely volcanic, which makes for many interesting canyons. Truth be told, there are a lot of canyons here, but most are really just mediocre.
In October-November 2021, we spent two weeks traveling in the Canary Islands, and also managed to run two canyons, independently and with our own gear. I published both these on Ropewiki. Although ample beta has long existed in Spanish and French on European canyoning websites, there was little to nothing in English.
Aguila was mediocre, but would be more fun with flowing water. Carrizales, however, was one of the best canyons ever, with flowing water, an inescapable slot, dozens of pools and jumps, and a stunning mountain range on the difficult exit. It's worth bringing your gear to Tenerife just for this one!
