While much of India is vastly overpopulated and there are few unexplored wilderness areas, this is actually a gem in the northeast state of Meghalaya. This region is filled with long, river caves, some of which are vertical. European cavers have made trips here for several decades, but I am certain there are many discoveries still to be had.

The only time to visit is the winter dry season of November to March. This is a faraway and major trip to undertake, and I look forward to it someday soon.
