Woods and rain.

Maine has plenty of glorious forests, lakes and small mountains. The foggy coast is fascinating, too. I've made several trips up here, and enjoy the wilderness - in summer, at least.

The bugs can be horrendous, but it's the price to pay for most northern wildernesses. Climbing up Mt. Katahdin, though mostly easy and doable in a long day, is a top experience. It was for me.
